Cytology testing
The two common methods of Pap Test sample collection, preparation and submission as described below are:
- ThinPrep® Pap Test, Image-Guided
- SurePath™ Pap Test
Cytological examination may be performed on other body cavity fluids including pleural, peritoneal, pericardial, bronchial, gastric, esophageal brushings and washings and others. Please call the Cytology Department for procedure guidelines and supplies.
As an alternative, body fluids may be added to Cytolyt® Preservative.
